February 14, 2018 | Tennis

BOULDER – The University of Colorado tennis team looks to continue its winning streak to start the spring season this Sunday at the Rocky Mountain Tennis Center as the Buffs take on the Kansas State Wildcats. First serve is set for 11 a.m.

CU's 5-0 record ties the third best start to a season in the program's history with the 1993-94 team that started 5-0 as well. The 1975-76 team started its season with a six game win streak while the 1996-97 team started out 10-0.

Last weekend, the Buffaloes defeated the Sacramento State Hornets, 7-0, on Saturday and on Sunday took down the Boise State Broncos, 4-3.

Against the Broncos, Colorado fell to an early 0-1 deficit after losing the doubles point. The Buffs then racked off four straight singles wins to clinch the match victory, including a marathon 7-6, 3-6, 7-6 win for senior Louise Ronaldson over Boise State's Palmer.

Jeannez Daniel clinched the match for the Buffs with the 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Boise State's Kantenwein. Senior Kyra Wojcik led CU by clinching both the doubles point and entire match during singles play.

In Saturday's match, CU took the win in a convincing sweep over the Hornets, 7-0. The Buffaloes took the doubles point with wins by the pairings of junior Brigitte Beck and sophomore Chloe Hule as well as freshman Linda Huang and senior Kyra Wojcik.

In singles play, the Buffs won five of its six matchups in straight sets.

Kansas State is 4-1 this season and are currently on a three game win-streak in which they won each match by 4-3 score. Most recently, the Wildcats took down Washington State at home on Sunday, Feb. 11 in Manhattan, Kan.
