Buffs Doubles Teams Rise In Final Day of Husky Invite

SEATTLE – Colorado women's tennis program concluded action in the 2019 Husky Invitational Sunday with a pair of double victories.
After starting out 0-4, CU's doubles team picked up two wins against the University of Idaho Sunday. Tallulah Farrow and Sophia Derivan picked up their win against the Idaho pair 6-1, while Ky Ecton and Antonia Balzert took on an Idaho pair that included Ecton's former doubles partner Ilana Oleynik. Ecton and Balzert held off the former Buff and her partner to finish out the final day perfect on doubles.
The singles round on the final day didn't go as well for the Buffs as the team went 1-4 against Oregon. Ellen Puzak picked up her first singles win of the tournament against Oregon's Madisen Olsen by way of a 6-2, 6-4 win.
The rest of the Buffaloes fell in consecutive sets to the Ducks except for Balzert. The freshman took the first set against Rifanty Kahfiani 6-2, then the Duck responded with a 6-3 second set win. The third set went down to the wire with Oregon taking it 7-5.
Colorado returns to action tomorrow to close out the tournament. They are back in action in a couple of weeks in the ITA Mountain Region Championships in Las Vegas, beginning Oct. 23.
