Buffs Prepare to Head to Ohio

March 07, 2023 | Lacrosse

BOULDER - The Colorado women's lacrosse program heads to Columbus, Ohio to face Ohio State University in their final game before conference play begins.

The Buffs' (0-4) slow season start continued after losing to No. 21 Michigan at home over the weekend. CU took nine more shots than the Wolverines, but UM had more shots on goal with 21 while the Buffs had 18.

Charlie Rudy and Sam McGee continued to lead Colorado's offense as each notched two goals. Liz Phillips also found her first goal of the season in the game's third quarter. However, Michigan held the Buffs scoreless in the first and fourth quarters, helping them build their substantial lead.

The game against Michigan marked the first time this season that Rudy hasn't notched a hat trick. Despite not reaching three goals, the senior attacker is still ranked third in the Pac-12 with 13 goals and is tied for third in overall points with 16.

Defensively, goalkeeper Grace Donnelly continues to lead the Pac-12 with a save percentage of 50 and is tied for 18th in the NCAA overall. The senior goalkeeper also ranks fourth in the Pac-12 for saves with 32.

The matchup between Colorado and Ohio State University (4-3) marks the second time that the teams have played each other. Last time the two teams met was during the 2022 season when the Buffs won 13-10 in Boulder.

The Buckeyes

OSU already has played seven games, most recently losing to No. 8 James Madison University while on the road over the weekend.

Like Colorado, the Buckeyes also played No. 6 Denver, but lost by a much wider margin at 11-4. The Buffs only lost to Denver by one point in their home opener.

Senior Nicole Ferrara leads the Buckeye offense, notching 18 goals so far this season. Junior Jamie Lasda is OSU's second highest scorer with 10 goals.

Where To Watch

First draw between the Buffs and the Buckeyes takes place at 10 a.m. MT March 12. The game will be shown on BigTen Plus.
